Steven Smet has a master degree in nursing and hospital infection control. He worked for 2 years in the intensive care unit where after he started as the coordinator of the wound care centre at the Ghent University hospital. Steven is a nurse specialist in wound care responsible for the wound care protocols and the wound care team in the hospital. He performs together with his team bedside and ambulatory wound care consultations. Also, education, in- and externally, is an important part of his workload and Mr. Smet is a member of the board of the EduWond wound care teaching platform.
Mr. Smet is chairman of the pressure ulcer committee in the Ghent university hospital since 2012 and is responsible for the creation and updating of the procedures of the prevention and treatment protocols in the hospital.
