Pressure Ulcers: Back to Basics – The Fundamental Principles
5th-7th May 2005, Aberdeen, Scotland
The theme of the conference built upon the 2003 EPUAP conference when we discussed whether we had made a difference in improving pressure ulcer prevention and management. The meeting was also preceded by a one-day event (May 4th) organised by the UK Tissue Viability Society which complemented the main EPUAP theme by exploring ‘Fundamental principles and good practice in tissue viability’.
Within the EPUAP programme delegates explored the classic studies of pressure ulcer aetiology whilst a major part of the programme was given over to discussion upon how best to implement pressure ulcer prevention and treatment guidelines. There were several sessions of submitted presentations with parallel workshop sessions tackling diverse subjects as biomechanics for beginners and for the more advanced! There were also workshop sessions upon seating, pressure ulcer classification and assessment.
