About Ms Young

Trudie completed her nurse training in 1982 with subsequent BSc in 1991 and an MSc in 1999, having become interested in tissue viability whilst a ward sister in a unit caring for elderly mentally ill patients. She then had the opportunity to move in 1992 into a joint role both as a lecturer in Tissue Viability (Bangor University) and as the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Tissue Viability (Conwy & Denbighshire NHS Trust). For the last two years Trudie has moved from clinical practice and has a lecturing and research role undertaking her PhD into coping and adjustment in people with pressure ulceration.

Trudie is the Co-chair of the Scientific Committee for European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, a trustee of the Lyndsay Leg Club Foundation, an executive member of the Welsh Wounds Network, and member of the All Wales Tissue Viability Nurses Forum, European Wound Management Association and Past Chair of the Tissue Viability Society.

Trudie has been the recipient of the British Journal of Nursing clinical practice award, Wounds UK pressure ulcer award and the Fondation Le Lous clinical prize.

Trudie serves on the editorial board of British Journal of Nursing (Tissue Viability Supplement), Journal of Wound Care, Journal of Tissue Viability and Wounds UK.
