About Doctor Kottner
Before Jan Kottner finished his master course in nursing science and education he worked as a nurse in several hospital settings. He was involved in large scale pressure ulcer prevalence studies in Germany and in numerous smaller pressure ulcer research projects. Validity and reliability of pressure ulcer risk diagnosis and pressure ulcer classification was the topic of his PhD thesis. At the moment he is involved in projects about diagnostic reliability and validity of pressure ulcer risk and diagnosis and he explores the application of statistical process control methods on pressure ulcer data. He is specialized in the design, conduct and statistical analysis in reliability and agreement studies in general. At the moment Jan Kottner works at the Centre for Quality of Care in Berlin and he gives lectures about quantitative research methods and nursing theory. He is a member of the German Society of Nursing Science and published about 30 papers on pressure ulcers in peer reviewed scientific journals.
