About Doctor Cherry
Dr. George W. Cherry was one of the Founding Members of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) in 1996 and is in charge of the EPUAP Business Office supported by Dr. Margaret Hughes and Christine Cherry.
His background in pressure ulcers stems from both clinical and basic research interests in wound healing. Whilst in the Department of Plastic Surgery, University of Michigan and Department of Dermatology, Oxford University he has written and co-authored a number of articles on pressure ulcer aetiology with regard to tolerance of skeletal muscle and skin to ischaemia and reperfusion. He is also co-editor of The Science and Practice of Pressure Ulcer Management, published by the EPUAP.
Through the EPUAP Business Office he has been responsible for the organisation of the annual meetings throughout Europe as well as fund raising for the newly published EPUAP/NPUAP Pressure Ulcer Guideline project and earlier epidemiology studies in Europe.
