Mölnlycke Launches Wound Academy Scholarships And Awards
Mölnlycke Health Care has just launched its 2009 Wound Academy Scholarships and Awards and is encouraging wound care practitioners to apply. Mölnlycke Health Care is one of the world's leading providers of wound care solutions to the health care sector, producing a range of dressings using SafetacÒ technology, including Mepilex Mepilex Ag and Mepitel.
The annual Scholarships and Awards are a reflection of the Mölnlycke Health Care Wound Academy's commitment to wound care education. They provide health care professionals in the area of wound care with the opportunity for personal and
professional development.
There are two categories for the Scholarships, experienced practitioner and novice practitioner. The latter category also offers a bursary to the Wounds-UK annual conference, for an entry judged to be ‘highly commended'. A Scholarship worth £1,500 is offered for both categories.
Experienced practitioners must have a minimum of two years full-time experience in wound care. Entrants' projects should reflect their ability to develop and evaluate their role and the benefits it brings to both patients and their organisation. Examples include service audits, patient centred outcomes and service delivery outcomes.
Novice practitioners wishing to apply must have been in post for less than two years and spend at least 75% of their working time in wound care. Projects should explore an aspect of practice, for example formulary development, pain management or innovation in local practice.
This year, Mölnlycke Health Care has also created two Awards, each worth £1,500. The first is for a team and the second an individual. The team, which needs to have been established for at least twelve months, can be uni-professional or multiprofessional and based in practice or academia. The individual category requires a peer nomination and is aimed at a person who has made a real contribution to the development of tissue viability or wound care. This can be through research, clinical development or improving patient outcomes.
To apply for a Scholarship or Award, health care professionals just need to complete a simple application form. Further information and an application form are available on the Mölnlycke website at www.molnlycke.co.uk or by emailing woundacademy@molnlycke.com. The closing date for entries is Monday 16 February 2009. Short-listed candidates may be interviewed in March 2009 and the awards will be presented at a special lunch in April.
